I worked on a dryer today in Boise. The dryer had a bad thermal fuse and the heat that was generated from the heater element was not being circulated in the drum and ducting sufficiently enough to prevent the dryer from overheating. Here was the culprit. This lint buildup in the ducting was restricting the air flow about 70 percent -enough to cause overheating.
Dryers should be cleaned out periodically. If this is not practical then a good indication of a problem is when you clothes are taking a longer time to dry.
