The best Maytag Washer ever built!!

This is a picture of a Maytag front-load washing machine built in the 1990's.  It's one of the first front load washer designs that came to market and is one of the most dependable and desired washers in Boise Idaho and throughout United States.
There are many many of the washer owners who prefer to keep these washers alive and to squeeze every inch of life that's left out of them, and for good cause.  The sheet metal is thick, the chassis is robust, the electronics are dependable and the main bearing last for years and years.  There are not many things that go wrong with these but occasionally the will need to be repaired.
A repair is not cheap but compared to the cost of a newer washer, that may need to be repaired after 3-4 years, if your lucky, fixing these washers is very practical.
I, personally, have owned this same model of washer for 20 years and it needed one repair in that 20 year span.  Try to get that dependability in a washer now?  It won't happen.  Most of the new appliances, if your lucky, will last about 7 years.  Well, I think we all now the quality of appliances built and imported into the United States - Quality is lacking.  As an Appliance Repair Boise technician at Western Appliance, I have seen my share of bad quality washers, dryers, ovens, and refrigerators.
What can an average Boise consumer like you and me do?   Well, one thing we can do is shop smart.  Don't settle for cheaply made appliances, choose your washer or dryer wisely.
One of the best washers I have seen in Boise, is the Speed Queen washing machine.  Don't let the name fool you.  This appliance is a Maytag design through and through.  The design is a carryover of the old Maytag washer that is built to last 25 years.  It is robust!  It may be the last washer you may every buy.  The price is not cheap but the quality of this washer will keep away from costly appliance repairs for the rest of your life.    Cheers!

Dryer Blowing Thermal Fuse

I worked on a dryer today in Boise.  The dryer had a bad thermal fuse and the heat that was generated from the heater element was not being circulated in the drum and ducting sufficiently enough to prevent the dryer from overheating.  Here was the culprit.  This lint buildup in the ducting was restricting the air flow about 70 percent -enough to cause overheating.
Dryers should be cleaned out periodically.  If this is not practical then a good indication of a problem is when you clothes are taking a longer time to dry.  For an example, if you have to cycle your clothes twice to get things dry- have a professional look at your system.  We can be reached at 208-863-3702.  http://www.westernappliancerepairboise.com

Dryer with no airflow

This whirlpool cabriolet had no airflow though the drum.  This particular dryer has a separate blower fan which rotates via a pulley, as you see in pic.  The pulley threads were stripped and it had come off the shaft
