Cleaning your appliance is good.

At Western Appliance, here in Boise Idaho, we strive to make customers happy with our premium service at all times, each and every repair.
Here we see a typical front load electric washer and a electric dryer in need of repair.  Whether we change a heater element, a belt, a roller, idler pulley, or just plain maintenance, we will clean your dryers interior the best we can.  This ensures there are no dangerous lint balls that may be ignited by the red-hot heater element when the dryer is running at it's hottest.  Lint and debris, if it's not cleaned out, can cause a reduction in air flow to components such as the blower and the motor.  When the blower overheats it's shape tends to distort and cause the dryer to "roar" or have a "rumbling" sound when it's running.  Dryer drive motors can go bad prematurely due to the increase stress of the heat.  When your dryer needs to be repaired, our service in Boise is the best you can get, guaranteed1

The best Maytag Washer ever built!!

This is a picture of a Maytag front-load washing machine built in the 1990's.  It's one of the first front load washer designs that came to market and is one of the most dependable and desired washers in Boise Idaho and throughout United States.
There are many many of the washer owners who prefer to keep these washers alive and to squeeze every inch of life that's left out of them, and for good cause.  The sheet metal is thick, the chassis is robust, the electronics are dependable and the main bearing last for years and years.  There are not many things that go wrong with these but occasionally the will need to be repaired.
A repair is not cheap but compared to the cost of a newer washer, that may need to be repaired after 3-4 years, if your lucky, fixing these washers is very practical.
I, personally, have owned this same model of washer for 20 years and it needed one repair in that 20 year span.  Try to get that dependability in a washer now?  It won't happen.  Most of the new appliances, if your lucky, will last about 7 years.  Well, I think we all now the quality of appliances built and imported into the United States - Quality is lacking.  As an Appliance Repair Boise technician at Western Appliance, I have seen my share of bad quality washers, dryers, ovens, and refrigerators.
What can an average Boise consumer like you and me do?   Well, one thing we can do is shop smart.  Don't settle for cheaply made appliances, choose your washer or dryer wisely.
One of the best washers I have seen in Boise, is the Speed Queen washing machine.  Don't let the name fool you.  This appliance is a Maytag design through and through.  The design is a carryover of the old Maytag washer that is built to last 25 years.  It is robust!  It may be the last washer you may every buy.  The price is not cheap but the quality of this washer will keep away from costly appliance repairs for the rest of your life.    Cheers!

Dryer Blowing Thermal Fuse

I worked on a dryer today in Boise.  The dryer had a bad thermal fuse and the heat that was generated from the heater element was not being circulated in the drum and ducting sufficiently enough to prevent the dryer from overheating.  Here was the culprit.  This lint buildup in the ducting was restricting the air flow about 70 percent -enough to cause overheating.
Dryers should be cleaned out periodically.  If this is not practical then a good indication of a problem is when you clothes are taking a longer time to dry.  For an example, if you have to cycle your clothes twice to get things dry- have a professional look at your system.  We can be reached at 208-863-3702.  http://www.westernappliancerepairboise.com

Glass Top Replacement for your Whirlpool or Jenn-Air Cooktop

I had time today to make a nice video on how to replace your own glass cook-top.  Many times it's not easy to prevent accidents such as a dropped pot or pan.  Such an event could render your cooktop useless due to cracked or broken glass.
I'll show you how you, the average homeowner, can replace this glass easily, with no special tools or training.  If the procedure appears to exceed your ability, you can always call us.  We are in the Boise area and help if needed.  208-863-3702

GE refrigerator defrost operation

This is a good video on how the defrost heater works on a GE Refrigerator.  You can see by the pic how intense the heat is.  This heat is what defrosts the ice buildup on the evaporator coils.  Regular defrost operation lasts approximately 20 minutes and occurs every 8-10 hours.  If you hear a "sizzling" sound coming from the inside of your freezer, this is what you are hearing.  Our phone number is 208-863-3702 for all appliance repair issues.

Dishwasher "clean" light blinking

When your ken more or whirlpool dishwasher light starts blinking, check for a broken heater.  A blinking clean light, which strobes seven times, is indicative if a heater circuit interruption.  In this instance trouble was found by opening the door and doing a visual inspection.  208-863-3702

Bottom mount refrigerator repair

Took this back panel off the back of freezer to show ice buildup in defrost drain hole. Water was overflowing on the bottom and on to floor.  This can cause unwanted damage to hardwood.  Call us if you see water leaking from your fridge.
